@TheAlhpaOmega A movie isn't good only because there is a good cast. This is a story with a lot of "clichè". With a very stupid happy ending. Her husband AGREES to marry her to the maori guy. It's the most stupid thing i've ever seen. And in the end she begins to speak. Why?? We don't know. In the end of the film SUDDENLY AND WITHOUT REASON she begins to speak. IMHO is a stupid thing.

For 'rootless voicing's' you're simply playing the 3rd and b7th of any key and then adding the 9th or 6th for "color tones" or aka extensions. Key of C = EBbD. 379 of C7 chord Exp: C F Bb Eb Ab Db Gb B E A D G C. Practice the cycle of 5ths beginning with the key of C. Playing the major 3rd of the key of C combining it with the Dominant 7th of the key of C as above. They're known as "rootless voicings" because you stay out of? the bass players way, whose already playing the root of the chord.

@johnbresnik oh ok. for the 2 chord im playing Bb,D,Eb,G which gives you the 7th,9th,3rd and? 5th. then for the 5 chord just move your pinky down from the Bb to the A which turns into the 3rd of the 5 chord. You can also alter notes on the 5 chord like the b9 #9 or b13(c#). Then finally for the 1 chord you play G,C,D,F, or ACDF with either the 6th or 7th on the bottom. Hope that helps;)

At 4:00 he just repeats a idea over different changes, that doesn't make it wrong. To say that anything is wrong while improvising is quite a judgment. Oscar will always be one of the greatest pianists but I do not think he is giving Monk the? true credit. Thelonious had an amazing technique. He choose to use it as he heard the music. Thelonious is 8 years older. An elder is an elder. Monk has piles of information to unpackage in what sounds like a less technical style of playing than oscar. There is no Coincidence that Monk is the writer of this song. The question of the correct chords is haunting and can even make a Master Stumble.

i agree with everything he said except the technique part. No one can? play the way he does. He broke down the jazz and music fundamentals and played his own technique. That combined with his compositions like Oscar said make Monk one of the most unique musical voices of all time.

I think there is a major misjudgement about *what* exactly makes Philip Glass' music have that ''certain something'' that alot of other, even more complex music does not have (to alot of people at least ). Often is thought that the key element is the simplicity in either the repetatieve chord patterns or the way the piano plays these chords, or parts of chords. While this does have some influence,? the true key to his ''emotional'' sound lies in the chord progressions itself
