@michaelsweat321 I agree to an extent. Playing music is? an expression of self. Unless he is trying to become a professional musician he does not need lessons. So long as a great teacher can be found, lessons will serve to help him. However that is a decision that should be made by him. If he is happy with what he has now then who are we to say it is not enough. If he finds a bad teacher, it would be a waste of time and money anyways.

Fantastic job on all your video's man, And i understand completely when you say lesson would hinder your progression. I'm the same way with guitar i play and learn strictly by ear, And trying anything else would only mess me up. id rather stick to? what i'm comfortable and used to doing and if that means sitting down and Dissecting a song verse by verse then i'll sit there all night. not sure if that's what you do but it works for me.

@fauzip If your child continues learning you'll have to buy a 88 key eventually. Its needed for certain pieces. Also the weight of the keys? is very important for their finger technique. If they play in a non weighted keyboard (usually only keyboards with 88keys have heavy keys), they wont be able to play in a real piano, or at least they wont be confortable in it. Good luck!

@stormshadow932 My piano? teacher when I was in high school had small hands, and he was one of the most amazing pianists I've ever worked with. Small hands will make certain advanced pieces more tricky, but it won't stop you from become a fantastic pianist if you are willing to work hard. I hope you keep playing! Thanks for watching!

@GMJ7 I thought i replied to this, but apparantly not! Sorry for the delay. It is not at all difficult to pick up the melodica, with or without woodwind experience. You simply blow while pressing keys and sound comes out, the harder you blow, the louder the sound, and as long as you can sustain a breath, you're golden. ? Highly recommended for a fun go-anywhere instrument!

haha, this is fun. i've been playing the impromptu on the piano? a lot and at some point you don't care about butchering it anymore ;) must have been tricky to arrange for the melodica's range too. @MyPassionsss This might help. I started learning the keyboard (using a church organ then, a piano) with barely 10-15 minutes, 3x a wk & occasionally, I'd have about an hour on wk-ends. Age 15. At age 18, I had an average of 30minutes 4days/wk, & an hour on wk-ends. And, no teacher. I observed: tv, listened to radio, watched pianists, read books. But, every moment w/ the instrument was just an opportunity to become more expressive. It wasn't? ever work to me. I had no personal keyboard/piano.

I always have thought that we were supposed to repeat the top note for scales! Could someone? tell me whether we have to repeat the top note? Because I thought the scales should be played in groups of 4 notes per beat and hence we have to repeat the top note. But in a piano exam, do I have to repeat the top note? Please reply if you know what I am talking about in regards to AMEB exam. Cheers!
