@del2201 No wonder - most of his CDs are of live concerts!!! Stevie wasn't fond of of overproduction, and tended to record in one or two takes. That's why when he did record, it sounded very similar to his live performances. What a talent he was. All these years later and I still marvel at his? gift.

saw him live in 86 i was 25 feet from him.....and there were grown? men in the front row with me CRYING...i kid you not.....it was such an OVER the top display of the blues that i dont think i could put it into words.....i would say SRV and the late Gary Moore were the VERY best of the last 25 years......may BOTH be at peace.....and we ALL owe them so much....

in my opinion stevie was by? far a better guitar player and singer..he is in the top 5 of the all time greatest of blues..clapton is a legend but in my opinion just because he composed and writed a lot of really good song wich become very popular.. but i can name 30 better guitar players and singers than clapton.

I never new Stevie Ray Vaughan, Never heard him play. A friend of mine is starting a band and he is going to be playing rock and Blues. Well his girl friend told me about? this SRV and i started listening to him. Wow he is really good. I will be listening to him some more, That's for sure.

@JerichoDitch2 Yeah, and I mean, at that level it's splitting the finest hairs. I personally believe that Jimmy Page was ever so slightly better than Hendrix, but Hendrix revolutionized his instrument and genre, and you can't really argue with that either. There's arguments for every goat guitarist, but it's pretty much a moot point without some kind of? discrete quantifier. They were all legends.

@theblahman totally agree on Clapton, I still consider Hendrix and SRV to be on the same cloud, early Clapton is awesome but more recent Clapton I personally think his guitar tone lost the edge, sounds a little bland but really all these? guys are the best...

Why do people feel the need to compare guitarists? I have listened to this shit since I was in Grade 2 at recess. I didn't give a fuck? about the arguments then... and 30 years later; I still don't. Appreciate the artwork rather than arguing over the brush strokes.

@ashjk92 agree ... Jimi and? Eric are both better than SRV but not by much... Eric has a more fluid motion and Hendrix was controlled chaos but is still #1 ... SRV is wildly precise and easily in the top 10
