@BoldRevelation i dunno, who are you? a musician? someone who knows a lot of musicians? all i know is i could walk down the? street over here any given time, and ask people to sing a line from justin beaver cleaver and they could likely do it with no hesitation-- yet almost all of them probably wouldn't even know who mr. kaapana is. if you can afford to live in hawaii when your only true job is playing the guitar in front of tiny audiences then that's fine, but das Y hahd, brah.

I suppose a musician would get? really upset when they dont get recognized if they've only gotten really skilled at something in order to gain recognition. If one's primary goal is to lift themselves up and be recognized, they are in music for the wrong reason I think. But hey, who am I to know.

Now there`s nothing wrong with country licks in rock or blues of course, nor the other way around.? In fact, any scale usage in any song can work and its been done for years but when it sounds like its being forced on the song it destroys the characteristics of the song. Anyway, no hard feelings, just an opinion.

This guy can play theres no doubt. B u t... It seems a bit boring at times and its like theres a serious clash of styles. Its like he`s maybe trying too hard to incorporate? the country licks in the blues and vice versa. I know a few guitarists who have the same problem but they`ve actually made the necessary adjustments once they realized playing an instrument is best coming from a direct line from your gut, NOT trying to play all you know in every song but playing what each song needs.

@VHDT10 His rhythm guitar work is really... well it's two things: chordally it's usually very boring, it's mostly just power chords? and barres. But it's got a cool rhythmic quality to it that gives it a unique "Josh Homme" sound. His lead guitar work is really weird, but I think it's a good strange, making notes that are out of key sound like they belong. I like it a lot though. It's a unique approach to solo/lead guitar.

THANKS FOR THE INFO! Great stuff.? I've been recording with one microphone because of my financial situation. I use an AKG 220 with pro tools m-powered 8 and my interface only has one mic input. I will eventually upgrade but my present problem is recording bottleneck guitar. It comes out really tinny and harsh. Any advice? Thanx.

If i was going to do DI? along with mic I would def mix the mic signal to be more prevalent then the DI. I think the DI adds a little bit more brightness and sharpness but too much of it's signal takes away from the soul the mic adds. Great vid btw.

@MrAwesomemusician u can use either type of mics, it just dpends on the distance from the instrument that u record. closer equals more noise, further means clearer sound. even for vocals. Ive done many recordings with dynamics. I even used? a video cam mic to record backups. It made it sound awesome, especially with a chorus effect, and a bit of auto tune. Its all about physics with recording. My friend records vocals with his laptop mic, and i make them crisp still. any mic works, be creative.

@shoomeedamoneee a dim.7 chord = 1-b3-b5-6 or (bb7) // Cdim.7 = C-Eb -Gb-A or(bbB) . the 6th(A) and double flatted 7th(A) are enharmonic equivalents.that is 2 notes that sound the same but are written? differently.G# and Ab are enharmonic equivalents.in sheet music and chord books you will rarely see a diminished chord written as a dim.7.it will just say G#dim.

@GenMata yea man of course, that's why we call them "guitarist" because they're playing with their guitar and they love it. but well, in those guitar lovers players, i can say that? richie is the one who loves his guitar the most. for example, lot of guitarists were only focusing on their technique while playing, then their style. if you take a look on bon jovi: live in wembley (at 1995 if i'm not mistaken), he didn't care about his technique. he just played it and enjoyed it and sounded good.

@cleaningagent101 Because they actually aren't - they seem the same because of the more noticeable cluster of common notes between them than other adjacent chord shapes. For example, between A? shape and G shape there are three common notes (on the D, G & B strings). The C and D shapes seem the same because of the more "noticeable" commonality of the G, B & E strings. In reality, the lowest 3 strings (in pitch) - E, A & D, must change, especially when utilizing all 6 strings (aka D/F# shape)

Im starting to make sense of it, bt only after getting out a big jot pad and a pen and drawing the fretboard with notes, writing out scale notes and looking where they sit on the fretboard.? I recently started to get my head round the 5 pentatonic shapes (though not fully) and was wondering if there is a correlation between those shapes (5) and the caged shapes (5). Id guess there is.
