Gadd doesn't play it straight like this, but more like a ratamacue, which is an alternating rudiment. That's why he ends it with a bass drum. That way he can start with the left hand again.?

Nobody said Steve Gadd? owned the lick or invented it was just used as a reference for it, like you say Bonham did use this lick quite a bit, But in my opinion Gadd is a better drummer. And when you say Bonham started playing drums before him thats not quite true, Bonham was tapping pots and pans in 1953 aged 5 , where as Steve Gadd was Sitting in for Dizzy Gillespie in 1956..just saying :)

@DJBufster ther's a huge difference between this guy and? gadd tho...and I'm pretty sure we both know who's been playing longer and with more people. so there really is no comparison, and it'd be very unfair to this great man who's taking time to help us all become better musicians to judge him. and besides...gadd's feel can never be covered in one lesson. even steve gadd himself can't explain it.
