The section where I play the entire fill from the beginning SLOWLY (4:56), I played the first two notes as & 3. I should have played it as 2 3.

Very? well spelled out. One thing though. The single stroke 4 at 1: 35 seems like it morphs into 16th note triplet rather than a true 16th note pattern once it gets up to speed. Nicely done though. I am going to check your other vids.

@gilmersg I have a TD 9 which I bought as a result of price range also. I believe the difference in? the SX and KX is the tom drum pads...one kit has a mesh head snare and the toms are soft rubber pads. The all mesh head kit has a larger snare also and all the toms are mesh head. I think the all mesh kit also comes with the 3-way ride crash also. The all mesh kits are more realistic but also about $1000 extra. I have the SX which has the rubber pad toms. I love mine. Hope that helps some.

@GrahamYoungGuitar it´s a nice trick. You just move the neck and maintain the body still, but sheehan have? a special setting in his bass to do that way. You can try it in the guitar, to get some nice vibrato; Gary Moore used to do this a lot, see Parisenne Walkway to understand what i´m saying

@underscoreisnotvalid no its just a large a "remote hi hat" the pedal is on the left as you said , and a series of chains and shit connect the pedal to the actual drum piece which in on the right side of the bass drum, its suppose to have the advantage of opening up your left hand , alot? of metal drummers use them so tht they can quickly move about the kit. its not i ride of any kind i dont think, just a very large and low sounding hi hat

@teamcoupe For me personally I've tried a number of size sticks. You do need to be heard and if you are not miked then a fatter stick may be? better. Tony Williams used fat sticks even in a Jazz context. Try a lot of different size sticks then make the choice based on how they work for you.

@hawkmoon666 I agree, the clinic videos where Harrison talks about his playing style are really interesting and open up the "basis" of his playing. I think that Portnoy lacks the elegance Harrison has. While listening to (especially newer) DT albums and concentrating to the drumming I just feel that Portnoy tries to be in the spotlight instead of giving the listener a constant pulse to follow. As a non drummer I also find? Harrison's playing a lot easier to enjoy.

you can tell hes very comfortable with what he's playing, which is probably the key. If you can get the feel for what you're playing, then it becomes more than just a simple beat. for example, I joined my high school jazz band with no previous jazz knowledge. Once I got the feel for the swing and all the rest of the stuff, you could play with more? emotion as opposed to just playing whats written. its a very weird feeling :P

Dude, this us the moeller technique...not a one-handed roll. It's simply not fast enough to qualify as a roll. Rabb has a one-handed roll, which he calls the "freehand technique" that is fast enough.? This is a sloppy and fast way of producing fast notes...not to criticize the hard-work and long man-hours that you put in. I personally don't find the moeller technique to be good for much more than ostentatious displays of sloppy speed that I can already single-stroke at the same speed.

Today, we take that for granted. An Arnold Schoenberg fan might consider Bach irrelevant, but then they don't truly understand what? they've been listening to. Schoenberg listened to Bach. No tplumz...you just have to have some moisture on the index or middle finger. I keep a slightly damp sponge under my thone.? It can be done with clear or coated heads. I use Remo WeatherKing Ebony Pinstripes and can get that effect all my drums toms...even the snare but the key is the sponge.

The secret is no secret. When you play loud all the time there is a level of tension that develops. To over come it you have to first find those areas of tension and relax the muscles. Then practice the same patterns at different sticking levels while maintaining as much relaxation as possible. Aaron can effortlessly adjust his level of tension? with his grip, arms and whole? body. Playing more quietly/lightly is part of the "control" issue - but the other consideration is for drummers to mature as musicians - i.e., considering what would? or would not sound appropriate with a given song...many, many years ago, some of my band members wanted me to play drums on the Beatles' "Yesterday"...well, I refused because I did not think the song called for drums...quieter drums/percussion may sound better for certain songs...learning to be sensitive to the music can be important...
