Buy Guitar from a Music Store, The Guitar Center

Are you planning to buy your first guitar? You can purchase either an electric or an acoustic guitar depending on your needs. You’re probably wondering where you can get a good guitar at a competitive price. Then, it’s time for you to visit the Guitar Center.

The story of Guitar Center begun in 1959 in Hollywood, California; at that time Wayne Mitchell bought a small appliance and home-organ store. The name of the company was later on changed to The Organ Center. The owner of Thomas Organ Company needed an outlet to sell its amplifiers and guitars and made an offer to Mitchell. After accepting the offer, the store’s name was again changed to The Vox Center. By late 60’s, its name eventually became The Guitar Center.

By 1972, it opened another store in San Francisco, and the following year in San Diego where the central Management Office is also located.

Three key people served as the driving force for the whole organization’s success, and they are: Ray Scherr, Larry Thomas, and Marty Albertson. All three of them have great musical talents, a personal drive and tenacious approach to problem solving, and a keen sense of business acumen. Their various contributions fueled the Guitar Center’s expansion.

From 1999 to 2003, Guitar Center tripled its size by opening seventy new retail stores. In the past years, it has acquired several business establishments as well, including Musician’s Friend and American Music Group.

The Guitar Center is considered as the nation’s leader when it comes to musical instruments. Its retail outlets are still growing in numbers and their quest is to ‘help people make music’. It is further believed that The Guitar Center is positioned strongly to be the best in the musical instrument’s business.

A unique retail concept is being utilized by the company with a combination of a broad selection of brand names, a hands-on shopping experience, and superior customer service. What more can you ask, you will be able to find the best musical instrument that you’ve been looking for.

Now that you know the company’s humble beginnings, go back to your guitar selection. The staff of the Guitar Center can help you choose. But you must know that there are great differences between an acoustic and an electric guitar.

The differences are:

- acoustic guitars don’t need to be plugged in amplifiers
- your style of music will determine the type of guitar to be used
- rock music should be played on electric guitars
- if you just want to learn a few chords and strumming, an acoustic guitar is best, and there is no need for electricity; you can play it anywhere
- price is an important consideration

An expensive guitar is built with more time and care. And this is usually reflected through the sound, playability, and look.

Most importantly, make sure that you’ve chosen a guitar that is comfortable to hold, play, wear on a strap, and other things that you might consider important. It should make you feel comfortable playing either when standing or sitting.

It doesn’t matter whether you buy a cheap or an expensive guitar. It will greatly depend on how you play the guitar; if you’re a good player, any kind or type of guitar will suit you as long as you can express yourself freely through the music you play.

Purchase a guitar now at the Guitar Center. The company can provide you with the best line of guitar choices, and even help you choose one.
